Di Marzio: Ajax Consider Swoop For Inter Milan Under-19 Coach

Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Ajax are considering an approach to bring in Inter Milan Under-19 coach Christian Chivu.

The Sky Sport Italia reported live on air, via FCInterNews, that the Dutch giants are thinking about lining up a five-year contract for the Romanian.

Romanian former defender Chivu is currently coach of Inter’s Primavera or Under-19 team.

The 2010 Treble winner took over the Primavera side in the summer of 2021. He has been in charge for the past three seasons.

Chivu has enjoyed a positive stint in charge of the Inter Primavera team.

The 43-year-old has gained a reputation for having a strong rapport with young players, and a real propensity for developing young talent.

The likes of Giovanni Fabbian and Cesare Casadei have been among the players to break through under Chivu.

Chivu may be on the move back to another of his former clubs, however.

Prior to playing in Serie A with Inter and Roma, Chivu had played for Ajax in the Eredivisie.

And according to Di Marzio, the Amsterdam-based club see Chivu as a potential target for their coaching bench in the long term.

Ajax have been in the midst of something of a crisis in the last couple seasons.

The Dutch giants staved off the threat of a truly shock relegation after finding themselves in the bottom places of the Eredivisie table earlier this campaign.

However, Ajax currently sit fifth in the table.

Therefore, the Amsterdam club are thinking about a major rebuild for the future.

And Di Marzio anticipates that Chivu could be part of such a rebuild.

The Sky transfer expert reports that Ajax are thinking of offering the Romanian a five-year contract.

This would be with a view to Chivu being assistant coach for a couple years.
